Oslo trip September 2024

What a wonderful weekend of dancing was held at the IB event in Oslo from Friday 13th to Monday 16th September 2024.     The whole weekend ran like clockwork, and everyone had great accommodation in a lovely Scandia Hotel.   The event was held in the hotel, so it was easy to attend classes and get to the two dances and the ceilidh, hosted by Chris Harris, in the conference facility.  All meals were buffet style and catered for all tastes and appetites.

There were two classes, ‘gentler’ and ‘more challenging’.    My co-teacher was Fiona Mackie from Dundee.   The classes enjoyed the dances we taught and enthusiastically took part.   There were some ‘teaching’ dances and others that were selected for their ‘gentler’ content.    James Gray from Norway and Andrew Lyon were the two musicians.

The programmes for the evening dances were selected by the Oslo Branch on the Friday Welcome Dance and the IB Branch on the Sunday Gala Ball.   Both were greatly appreciated.

Two excursions were planned for Saturday and Sunday afternoons.   I selected to go to the Vigeland sculpture park and the Norwegian Folk Museum.  Both were within walking distance of the hotel.   Just as well we were blessed with lovely weather.

There was a real buzz about the place, and everyone had a great time.    I would like to thank the IB committee for inviting me.
